General Information: Excel Cherry Forte College is a Government-approved Christian co-educational school in Nigeria.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to promote a lifelong learning environment that challenges and supports students to receive quality, comprehensive education; think critically; be self-confident; be disciplined; show strong leadership; and adopt zero tolerance for malpractice in their studies and life to succeed as productive, informed, and engaged citizens of our nation. For this reason, we have adopted different approaches and tools that make learning enjoyable. These approaches include the use of activity-based learning and outdoor learning, among others, which are encouraged through the employment of certified teachers, improvements on training provisions for our staff, and the provision of equipped, state-of-the-art learning facilities for the students.

School Curriculum: Excel Cherry Forte adopts the British curriculum and Nigerian National curriculum.

Crèche , Pre-Nursery, and Nursery (8 months to 2 years): Our crèche is equipped to cater to the needs of babies and toddlers, thereby giving parents the required peace of mind to enhance productivity at the workplace. Our crèche caters to ages 8 months to 2 years. In our crèche, we adopt play-based learning—an integral part of the Montessori teaching method, which helps kids learn faster—and individualised learning, which enables our carers to pay required attention to each child to learn and develop skills.

Pre-Nursery and Nursery (3 years to 5 years):  At Excel Cherry pre-nursery and nursery school, our teaching approach is child-centred. Our classes are equipped with Montessori didactic materials, Jolly phonics philosophy and National Curriculum, which incorporates the following subjects: Values/Attitudes, Sensorial, Storytelling, Social Habits, Health Habits, Reading with Phonics, Discovery, Number Concept/Logic, Gin Science, Language Arts, Creative Art/Colouring, Everyday Practical Life, Calligraphy/Hand Coordination, Songs/Rhymes, French, Computers, and Outdoor Play Activities.

Primary (5 years to 10 years): The primary section runs the British curriculum and the Nigerian National Curriculum. The curriculum is child-centred, teacher-friendly, and enables the child to take responsibility for his or her learning by involving activities such as planning, researching, and interaction with mates and teachers. The following subjects are learnt- Mathematics, English language, Basic science, Agricultural Science, Social Studies, Fine Art, Diction, Abacus mental maths, Christian Religious Knowledge, Home economics, Physical and Health Science, French, Phonics and Spellings, Vocational Aptitude, Quantitative Reasoning, Computer science.

Secondary (11-17years): We are approved by the Rivers State Ministry of Education to run both the Junior and Secondary Schools and a centre for NECO (SSCE and BECE) and West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) . Entry point is JS1 and in the first three years our students are introduced to the following subjects - Mathematics, English Language, Social studies, Business studies, Basic Technology, Basic Science, Home Economics, Literature, Computer Science, Cultural and creative arts, History, Music, Civic education, Christian Religious studies, Igbo language, French ,Typing, Physical and Health Science. JSCE and BECE examination is compulsory for all Junior Secondary (JS3) students. The following subjects are carried out in Senior Secondary- Mathematics, English Language, Government, Civic Education, Literature in English, Physics, Chemistry, Financial Accounting, Economics, Geography, Data Processing, Agric Science, Biology and Further Maths.At the end of SS3 the students will sit for WASSE and NECO examinations.

EXAMINATIONS TAKEN:  Internal Exams, Mock Exam BECE, SSCE, NECO, WAEC Homework and Continuous Assessment tests Homework and continuous assessment tests are set regularly in all subject areas with increasing dedication as students get older. We monitor all homework and record all continuous assessments to maintain high standards.

Extracurricular Activities:  The quality of our extra-curricular activities is very intense. We have provided extensively for sporting activities in Excel Cherry Forte. Our core sports activities are football, athletics, etc There are other creative activities such as Debate, Quiz, Catering, Leadership/Mentorship Training, amongst others.

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES:  The following clubs are in existence in the school- JET Club, English, Literary and Press Club, Mathematics club, ICT club, etc
